Societies Awards 2008
Hi,
This year’s Societies Awards take place on Friday 25 April in Bangor City Rugby Club. The Awards celebrate the work done this year in our various societies and are split into two categories: individual awards and group awards.
The Awards are based entirely on your nominations, so if a society or individual is not nominated for anything they will not win any awards. You cannot nominate yourself for an individual award but you can nominate your own society for a group award.
There are two types of individual awards, gold and silver (similar in concept to the full and half colours awarded by the Athletic Union). Gold Awards shall be granted to nominees who have
- shown outstanding involvement and contribution to the society
- shown exceptional dedication to the society both in its management and in the training of its members.
Silver Awards shall be granted to nominees who have
- made a worthy contribution to the society meriting recognition but to a lesser extent than a Gold Award.
Nominees must be proposed and seconded on the attached individual nomination form, with a detailed explanation of why the nominee deserves an award. This year the decision on whether to give gold or silver to a nominee will rest with the Societies Awards Committee.
There are ten Group Awards to choose from (see attached sheet for details). Again, the nominated society must be proposed and seconded on the attached group nomination form, marking clearly which award the society is being recommended for. Societies can be entered for as many awards as you like, although separate nomination forms must be completed for each category.
I cannot stress how important it is that you fill in the nomination form thoroughly: in many cases members of the Societies Awards Committee will have no prior knowledge of the individual or group you are nominating, so be as detailed as possible.
Please distribute these forms to your members, not just your committee, to give everyone the chance to nominate the individual or group they feel deserves an award.
Nominations must be returned to me by email or in person before 5pm on Tuesday 22nd April.
Good luck!
Carolan
