Current Volunteers
Getting in touch with someone to support you.
We recognise that being a Nightline volunteer is not always easy. We provide a network of support links to help and support you during your training, induction, duties and out of Nightline hours too. You can find out more about the Nightline support network through the information displayed within the Nightline premises, by emailing nightline.deputy@undeb.bangor.ac.uk, or by checking out the rota system. Nightline is always here to support you as well so feel free to use the service yourself should you want to talk openly and in confidence to someone who can really understand where you are coming from, and as you will know they will not give you advice or tell you what to do but will help you to look at the situation in a fresh way.
Your role
Your role as a nightline volunteer is really important in keeping Nightline and our service users going. If you feel that you would like more information about any aspect of your role or if your induction has raised any questions then please do not hesitate to contact:
nightline.training@undeb.bangor.ac.uk
nightline.deputy@undeb.bangor.ac.uk
nightline.coordinator@undeb.bangor.ac.uk
Your Committee
The Committee are there to run the service and develop it, while also helping to support you in your role. You can find out more about the work the committee are doing right now by checking out the minutes section on the online rota system, or you might like to contact them directly via email with your ideas and comments. As you know the committee work really hard to make sure that you have a great environment to volunteer in, great training, fab social events, support, and an awesome service to volunteer with, but we need your support and help in doing so. Nightline and the committee value your support for the service and our events as this really helps the service to develop and helps to give fellow volunteers and committee members the boost they need to continue working so hard for the service.
Millennium Volunteers
Nightline registers all its volunteers on the Students' Union Millennium Volunteering project during the training process. Millennium Volunteers (MV) is a nationally recognised group who accredit volunteers for their hard work by certificating the number of hours you volunteer for. With MV you can receive certificates for 50, 100, and 200 hours worked within voluntary projects. Nightline supports this scheme and the reward it offers its volunteers. To make your life as a volunteer easier Nightline is now also recording your hours for you – so all you need to do is sit back and wait for the certificates to roll in to reward you for all your hard work with us! You can find out more by contacting nightline@undeb.bangor.ac.uk.
Leaving Nightline
We understand that life at Uni is full of many time constraints and challenges and should you decide to leave Nightline then the process is easy – simply email nightline.secretary@undeb.bangor.ac.uk and let us know. With a tear in our eye we will then email you a leavers form which really helps us to monitor and improving the Nightline volunteering experience. Nightline retains volunteers information for one year after their departure in accordance with our Data Protection policy – for more information on this please email nightline.secretary@undeb.bangor.ac.uk.
